Funding & Support

The Coterie group supporting the Brunswick Hockey Club Inc (BHC) was formed in 2018 on the initiative of Noel ‘Bori’ Turner. Noel banded together a group of past players and life members who share a common interest in supporting the club and wish to stay in touch.

The BHC Coterie Social Club Inc is an incorporated association under the Associations Incorporation Act 1981. This means that the Coterie is financially and administratively independent of the BHC. The objective of the Coterie is, however, to support the men’s, women’s and junior’s sections of the BHC.

Recent examples of the support that the Coterie has provided to the BHC include:

  • Ball hitting machine for junior goalkeeper practice.

  • Physiotherapy services and tables for both senior teams.

  • Hockey balls for the senior women’s team

  • Financial support for a guest international player in the senior men’s team

Coterie membership is open to anyone who wants to support the BHC especially past players and administrators, parents of junior players and life members. The Coterie now has around 25 active members. Coterie members can be seen around the club decked out with their “Wickers” caps, stubby holders and puffer vests.

As the BHC celebrates its centenary this year, a key fund raiser for the Coterie will be the sale of the publication Celebrating 100 Years - A Brief History of the Brunswick Hockey Club. This is being prepared by Coterie members Noel Turner and Chris Zull and will be around 150 pages of key milestones and achievements in the club’s history presented decade by decade. Prior to the official launch of the publication, the Coterie will host an exclusive, members only pre-launch event.
