Vale Ken Parkin

Vale Ken Parkin

The Brunswick Hockey club is deeply saddened at the passing of Ken Parkin.

Ken’s life-long passion for developing the skills of young hockey players in Victoria was unsurpassed and his absence leaves a void that will be difficult to fill.

Brunswick’s junior players were privileged to have Ken’s expertise on tap in recent years with his mentoring presence at mid-week training, and in his popular school holidays skills sessions, which ran at Brunswick HC right through until last week.

Ken’s passion was to hone the skills of young players in order to develop a love of the game as well as their individual skills. He coached many Brunswick players in the North-West-Metro Tigers U13 Junior State Championships team and was a great supporter of young people achieving their potential and introducing them to representative hockey and senior pathways.

Both young and old will miss his ‘daily dad joke’ at the end of training, the Slurpee expeditions and his famous pool-noodle combat warm ups.

It’s with a heavy heart we say goodbye, but we are so lucky to have had his time and energy at the club and his enthusiastic development of our juniors will play out for many years to come.

We are truly indebted to him.
